I want to send twitter updates from my phone but i don't have internet on my phone. Can i still send them?

I don't have Internet on my phone, but it says if I use my phone to text Facebook updates, I'll receive my friends' updates to my phone. I don't want to receive updates to my phone, I only want to be able to update my own account. How do I do that?

I added my number to my twitter account and I just don't know how to send messages from my phone. Do you have to use the internet on your phone or is it like sending a text message?

Currently, if someone enters the email address you use to log on that account into the search bar, you will be able to find that persons facebook account. I do not want this to happen, is there anyway to get rid of this?
